Fall 2025, Week 3 Update
A New Season, A New Chapter
With the semester fully underway, both the men's and women's teams are finding their rhythm after an off-season of growth, recruitment, and transition. Let’s catch you up.
🏉 Men’s Team: Building from the Ground Up
The men’s side is in rebuilding mode after graduating nearly ten players last spring. With ~20 new recruits, they’ve focused on development and team chemistry.
Match Results (So far):
vs. Vassar – L 3-66
vs. Hofstra – L 13-70
vs. Seton Hall – L 18-29
President Matt Yates shared:
“Coming off the graduation of about ten great New Paltz players, NP Rugby is building back its program with about twenty strong new recruits. Our boys are new, but they've been learning fast and progressing a lot every week. After our closest game yet, the future looks good for NP Rugby.”

🦅 Women’s Team: Off to a Flying Start
The women's squad kicked off the fall with a nail-biting win over Molloy, 26-25, thanks to 4 tries by Gloria Losurdo and 3 conversions by Liam Gorlin.
Coach Gel Silva-Perez said:
“It was a very good game against Molloy. They're always putting up a good fight. Second half we were neck to neck, but we managed to pull through at the end. We also have a great bunch of new players who went onto the field with so much energy you would have thought they were returners!”

🍽️ October 5th: Home Game & Potluck!
Both teams play at home this Saturday, October 5th, and you’re invited! The original plan for food trucks was vetoed by school administration, but the teams are hosting a potluck at the field.
🧺 Bring a dish and join the players, friends, and families for a great day of rugby and community. Local alumni especially welcome!
