Men’s Rugby Hosts Tri-State 7s Championship This Weekend

Rugby is returning to New Paltz in a big way this Sunday, March 30th, as the men’s team hosts the Tri-State Conference 7s Championship. This is the premier spring tournament in the conference, and it’s shaping up to be a full day of fast-paced rugby action.

New Paltz will be the only school fielding two sides, highlighting the program’s depth and commitment to developing players across the board. Teams competing in this year’s tournament include:

  • Maritime

  • Hofstra

  • Vassar

  • Molloy

  • Oneonta

  • Bard

  • Seton Hall

  • USMMA (Kings Point)

  • Montclair

  • Union College

  • New Paltz “A”

  • New Paltz “B”

Pool Play Matchups: Come Cheer On the Hawks!

Both New Paltz sides will be in action throughout the day, with Group A and Group B play starting in the morning. Games will be played across two fields at New Paltz, with pool matches, semifinals, and a championship final.

New Paltz “A” – Group A

  • 10:00 AM vs. Molloy

  • 11:20 AM vs. Oneonta

  • 12:40 PM vs. Vassar

New Paltz “B” – Group B

  • 10:20 AM vs. Hofstra

  • 11:40 AM vs. Maritime

  • 1:00 PM vs. Bard

Following pool play, the top teams will advance to the knockout rounds:

  • Semifinals: 2:40 PM

  • Championship Final: 4:00 PM

This is a big moment for the program, and we’d love to see a strong showing of alumni, family, and friends cheering on the boys. Whether you’re coming to support the A side, the B side, or just enjoy a full day of rugby - make your way to the fields this Sunday!

Women’s 7s Championship Next Weekend

The women’s Tri-State 7s Championship will be held the following weekend on Sunday, April 6th, hosted by Siena College. More information about their match schedule will follow next week, but mark your calendars now to support the women’s side as they compete for hardware of their own!
